Sports and Exercise

With six restaurants plus Room Service offering an average of five thousand meals a day (not to mention snacks, sweets, and beverages), you're going to need a way to work off all that food and drink.

To do that, the Nieuw Amsterdam offers pickleball, a fitness center, two pools, and more.

And that's not even counting the exercise you get pulling the handles pushing the buttons of all those slot machines in the Casino.

Sports Venues

The Sport Court (aft Deck 11 - Observation Deck) is mostly about pickleball these days, but you can also play basketball (half-court), have a game of soccer, or try your hand at shuffleboard or cornhole. To learn more and see photos, click the button.

Exercise Venues

The Fitness Center (forward Deck 9 - Lido Deck), This venue (which adjoins the Greenhouse Spa & Salon) has a large number of assorted treadmills, exercise machines, and other fitness paraphernalia and is the site of a variety of fitness and exercise classes daily. The Outside Lower Promenade Deck (Deck 3 - Promenade Deck) may seem an odd thing to find under the category of Exercise Venues. But bear with me, the outside Lower Promenade Deck is uniquely ideal for those wanting to get in a vigorous (or even a not-so-vigorous) morning walk. To see photos, click the button.

Water Venues

The Lido Pool (forward - midships Deck 9 - Lido Deck) is the larger of the Nieuw Amsterdam's two swimming pools and features three hot tubs and a wading pool for the kiddies, as well as a retractable roof (either fully or partially) so that it's open air on warm, sunny days and indoor for less pleasant weather. The Sea View Pool (aft Deck 9 - Lido Deck) is the smaller of the Nieuw Amsterdam's two swimming pools and is completely open-air. It, too, offers hot tubs. And, it's an adults-only venue. To see descriptions and photos, click the button.
